The client has been publishing one article a week for more than 1.5 years before we took over and started optimizing content quality to provide more value to readers. The idea was to make complex, and often bureaucratic, information a lot easier for readers to understand.

It was also very important that we made content on select topics that were not too ‘seasonal.’ The client’s industry has a lot of policies and regulations that are changed yearly, or every few years, and we had to make sure that the content would not lose all it’s value every year.
We met with the client and discussed their needs, challenges, and goals as it concerns content marketing. We also paid key attention to better understand their target audience and the tone they want to convey in their content.

We conducted an analysis on different search intents and search volumes of relevant topics in the client’s industry and proposed creating high-quality content around some easy, low-competition topics.
We did extensive keyword and competition research and came up with some topic clusters that we could publish content on. We prioritized different topic clusters based on search volumes and level of competitiveness.
Based on the insights we gathered from research, we began to optimize existing content. We removed some low-quality articles and optimized the rest. We rewrote meta details, added FAQ schema, optimized images, changed headings, and worked on internal linking.
We proceeded to create a content calendar where we would start with the low-hanging fruits and move to more competitive topics as we build domain authority. We wrote extensive content briefs, including guidelines for SEO and our copywriter got to work.
